“Fourth Foundation Day And Pre Diwali Celebration At Anant Aman SWS”

8th October’2017
Indore (M.P.)

Anant Aman Social Welfare society celebrated its fourth foundation day anniversary with full zeal and enthusiasm and organized a pre-Diwali celebration for all of the NGO’s Children and volunteers.
The event was held at our adopted Government School, Juni Indore. Dr. Bhajanlal Bhurani, an eminent social worker graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Mr. Jairaj Singh Rana, Treasurer and Mr. Hemant Gupta, President of Anant Aman SWS.

The first event was the fun activity of musical chair in which the kids enthusiastically participated and thoroughly enjoyed. Children were very giddy to take their spots once the music stopped. After this, the cake cutting ceremony was held which marked the formation date of Anant Aman SWS and also birthday of two of our NGO members Ankit Gupta & Rohit Yadav, what a fortunate coincidence indeed.

Dr. Bhajanlal Bhurani shared words of wisdom with the students, volunteers and teachers. Everyone got to learn one or two things from his life experience and got motivated to devote some portion of their lives to the social cause.

The event was filled with many fun-frill activities and games hosted by the volunteers (Avani, Prachi, Yuganshu, Pooja), and the winners of various games being given exciting prizes by (Poonam, Rohit Raghuvanshi) , beautiful  Rangoli decoration was done by Kalpana and Prekshita. The entire Anant Aman family joyously marked the day with cake cutting and refreshments managed by (Arpit, Shubham Jain) while all the happy and sweet moments were captured by (Akshat, Kunal and Atul) and the crackers show in the end, got along the best festive vibes this diwali.

The well co-ordination and co-operation of Payal, Kavya, Harsh, Hitesh, Rana sir, Ankit Gupta, Anuj, Rohit kumar Yadav, Pavan, Lavina, Siddharth, Vedant, Himanshu, many more and The sound leadership of Shubham Sharma made the event successful and memorable. UNITE TO END TB

Affecting nearly one third of world population, tuberculosis (TB) is one of the major public health problems in developing countries. Asia accounts for 80% of total cases of TB worldwide. In low and middle income based countries, one in every three adults die from TB whose death rate is after HIV and ischemic heart disease and it is the most common cause of death from a single infection among the adults. TB is the first infectious disease declared by the World Health Organization as a global health emergency.

TB is transmitted by respiratory route when a patient is coughing or sneezing, and one strain of TB, Mycobacterium bovis, can be caused by drinking un-boiled milk. Risk of TB is high among population living in poverty, low socioeconomic groups, low income, immune-suppressed (including AIDS), and extreme age (old age and children) groups, certain ethnicity, migrants, and those exposed to animals (Mycobacterium bovis)
Low level of knowledge on TB can lead to complications and worse health outcomes increasing the transmission and delaying health seeking behavior, lack of adherence, resulting in multidrug resistance, treatment failure, and disease complication and death.
Tuberculosis: Myths and Facts
Myth: Tuberculosis is hereditary.
Fact: Tuberculosis is NOT hereditary. TB is an airborne disease that is spread when a person with active TB coughs, laughs, sneezes or sings, breathing out tiny infected particles into the air. The particles may then be inhaled by others nearby. TB can be contracted by anybody.

Myth: If someone with tuberculosis coughs I will automatically contact it.
Fact: TB is not easily contracted. You have to be in close contact with someone who has TB for a long time (usually many hours or days). You should be aware of the symptoms of the disease so you can seek treatment as soon as possible.

Myth: If I don’t have TB symptoms, I don’t have TB.
Fact: A person with TB disease can have any of the following symptoms: chest pain; chronic cough; night sweats; feeling tired or weak; loss of appetite; unexpected weight loss; or coughing up blood. It is also important to remember that a person with TB disease may feel perfectly healthy or show fewer symptoms. If you think you have been exposed to TB, get a TB skin test.

Myth: TB is a disease of the lower socio-economic classes
Fact: TB is an airborne disease and can be easily contracted by anyone, rich or poor. However, overcrowding, lack of ventilation, poor access to health care, malnutrition, etc., predispose poorer people to TB. Certain populations, e.g. immigrants, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive and immune-compromised patients, elderly people and homeless people, are at a greater risk. Individuals in contact with these people are also at risk.

Myth: tuberculosis happens only to smokers and it affects only the lungs.
Fact: tuberculosis can happen because of a lot of other reasons and besides lungs, also affects the brain, spinal cord, intestines, eyes, covering of the heart, bones & joints, stomach etc.

Despite these challenges, WHO is committed to continuing its work with countries and partners around the world to address these challenges and to accelerate collective action to end the TB epidemic altogether..
If you also want to contribute something in society in respect with TB awareness then Join our TB awareness campaign today.

'I'

I am solely more than enough, better than enough..
I might cry but I won't give up, I will always try..
I might weep but I won't let my tears go cheap..
I might get hurt but I know I have enough courage to trust my gut..
I may fall asleep over thinking but I will make sure it's  worth thinking..
I might hurt my selves but I better know to resolve it thy selves..
I might come across numeral obstacles but I know how to change it in wonders..
I might curse myself for what not but I am blessed to have immense power to do a lot..
Each of us have this 'I' and it's incredible..
Allow and Arose this 'I' to make it applicable..
It will make your life worth living and appreciable.

HOMOSEXUALITY.......AN UNNATURAL CRIME..??

In 1900s, atleast 99% of the population would tell you that "Man will never fly".They did not end here, they even said "If God wanted man to fly, he would have given us wings". Nonetheless, we do fly despite whatever was said. This was the case then and somewhat similar is the case now. Humans are so consumed by the fact that whatever is practised till date is right and anything new which tends to defy these facts is mandatorily wrong. Same is the opinion they share when it comes to homosexuality. People have never failed to raise eyebrows and disagree with the very idea of homosexuality. Moreover, many term it as an unnatural offence. However, we often forget "Beliefs, no matter how sincerely held, do not alter the facts". Even if millions of people share those beliefs, it does not change the fact that homosexuality is not against the nature.

Sexuality is not something you choose, nor is it something that anyone should be made to feel ashamed of. The past is full of incidents where people have fought for homosexual rights. Gay(pride) parades are constant motivation for people to accept reality of homosexuality. In 2008, five cities in India organised gay parade. A major breakthrough occured recently, when Canada's PM Justin Trudeau danced along with people and became a part of pride parade in Toronto started on June 1, 2016 and continued for a week. This was the first time ever a political involvement was shown in gay parade. However, the pace is very slow and homosexuality is still considered a taboo in India. We Indians have always been cautious when it comes to expanding our horizons. We often tend to critisize the dark clouds for hiding the sun, although we fail to see the rain they bring as a relief. Similarly,we often critisize homosexual marriages as it will arise a generation that will be either "fatherless" or "motherless", regardless of the boon homosexual marriages bring to our society in the form of child adoption. Provided the fact that homosexual couples can not reproduce and will eventually go for child adoption to fulfill their child cravings. It will do nothing but ameliorate the life of the adopted child.

"To be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others".
One has the right to do anything untill it does not harm anybody, and it is a high time to stand up to this. Let us broaden our mindset and accept homosexuality on our individual level. Let us take action and be the instrument of change we desire.

Be selfless to selfish

Two alter egos were sitting in a park met after a long time. One of them was fortunately me.

Me: Hey dude! Is everything all right? Why my all-time nuisance creating buddy is so serine today?
Friend: Leave me alone (annoyed). This whole world is 'Selfish'.
Me: Correct (politely). But what's wrong in being selfish?
Friend: For the one whom we care the most disappoints the most. And the one whom you love the most hurts the most.
Me: It's not actually not being selfish my dear. It's just you expected a lot.

We Homo sapiens grow up learning the newton's 3 laws. Most of us forget the initial two. But maximum remember the third one. 'Every action has equal and opposite reaction'. And with this beautiful law we initiate raising our expectations. But this law on practical grounds is not as tenable as it is applicable on scientific grounds. Life is not just about theories, derivations, numerical. But it's much more. Not every student who studies for 18-20 hours regularly clears IAS exam. Not every war leads to peace.

Friend: It's really turning out frustrating for me.
Me: Calm down. You know the major reason of our frustration at maximum times is Expectation. If we aid someone, we expect the same from the guy some or other day. And if he is not able to do so we tag him with one of the most mis-interpreted word of the world 'selfish'. Without knowing his circumstances we set our mindsets and instead of fixing problem we give rise to another problem.

Friend: Oh c’mon! It's human nature. Why should we not expect?
Me: Nobody is selfish in this world. It's just how the needs and demands alter according to circumstances. Nobody can live isolated. Not even the Jainism saints who have although taken moksha but still urge to share and enlighten their thoughts. They wish to see the change. They do expect. But before expecting any change. Change yourself first. Expect from yourself rather than others.

Friend: Well that's true. But the word selfish means arrogance resulting into arrogance.
Me: This is exactly where we are mistaken my dear. The word selfish is not always a negative connotation as we perceive. To survive in this world we need to be selfish. Selfish like at least fulfilling our desires and working on our basic needs.

Friend: Yeah! True. It does sound interesting.
Me: One of the greatest ironies in life is before being social we need to be selfish first.  I hope you are not misinterpreting the term selfish now. Being selfish here means polishing yourselves, working on your forte by learning from others.

I remember one of the beautiful lines spoken by superstar Mr Shahrukh Khan that, do not engage in psychological talks until and unless you do not achieve anything (gyan tab tak na baato jab tak khud gyaani na ho jao).

Friend: So it's better to work on our grass first. Right?
Me: Oh yeah! Exactly. We cannot completely discard our expectations. But still we can minimize them. Maximum problems will soon get solved then and there itself.  Before being social be an achiever first. And when it comes to aid 'Be selfless to especially those who are selfish. By doing this you will definitely fall in love with yourselves. Concluding my words, stop complaining start living.

Painted Dome - "Rang Panchami"

28th March, 2016

Rang Panchami,

Preparing for a celebration for children, which has its deep traditional roots isn’t an easy task when you have to abide by traditions, ensure enjoyable time for children and take care of vision as well as objectives of a social organization. Event Leaders Dr. Pooja, Miss. Stuti and Mr. Hitesh stepped up to take this responsibility and their team supported very well to make this event successful. Special acknowledgement for AnantAman members Atul, Deepanshi, Anupreet, Tanya, Sarang and Anand supported in handling various duties and behind the scenes hardwork.

Pohe served as breakfast to children.

Members making arrangements for music system and speakers.
Members and children dancing on music.

Everything was on schedule and we began with serving breakfast to children because it’s no fun to play on empty stomach. All hustle got attention as the DJ began to roll its sound tracks. It was time for fun, dance and obviously colors. As promised we stuck with our determination of Safe and Dry Holi by entirely eliminating use of water as well as bringing in only Herbal colors. Everyone rushed to grab a fist full of color and chase each other to apply color before anyone else could. Soon the colors were spread everywhere as if some fancy makeup artist took a handful job decorated pretty faces. Pink and yellow, blue and red, green and orange and many more, scattered all around.

There was a moment when eyes got stuck and thoughts began to fly high. Gazing at everyone there and wondering about hidden importance of festivals. They pack so much within that we rarely explore. Every face was so well colored that they all resembled similar. It was hard to point any difference. The differences we use to discriminate humiliate and ostracize others. Yes!! This colorful festival does carry an important message. It teaches us to look beyond colors of skin, names, castes and religions. Colors of holi certainly eliminated all difference to bring every person under nature’s dome to enjoy together.

Music was on and feet were not ready to stop for a single moment of breath. All that one could do is get in mood, get carried with vibes of this festival and put some color. Some possed for selfies while others asked for their portraits to be captured by then responsible man for photography of event, Sarang Rajderkar.

Hurdle race and Sprint race

We continued the fun with several games, Hurdle Race, Sprint Race & more. As time passed by children surely felt roars from within. Tummy was at its loudest speech asking for lunch. On their daily scheduled time without any delay children were served Roti, Sabzi, Kheer and Daal-Chawal as lunch.

Lunch being served to children

After refueling everyone was back for more fun. More dance and some more games were played with kids. Finally concluded event on a high note every one once again wished each other “Happy Holi ~ Rang Panchami”. At last group picture of all participants was necessary for souvenir of a fabulous day with children.

Group picture concluding event.

“Colors, well they can be pleasing, attractive and enjoyable as well as repulsive, ugly, unacceptable and offensive but Blacks, Reds & Whites shouldn’t be basis for discrimination.”

Gulaal !!

Being a Jain I have learnt not to waste water unnecessarily. But being a human I have experienced that never to waste a single moment which who knows can be unknowingly source of joy. Well this situation is truly a dilemma. Now how will I be able to play Holi. Water or colors or just social sites! Excess water usage will ruin my values; colors may be skin sensitive, while just plain texts would be boredom.

Well not wasting water literally makes sense. There is still a major chunk in India which still suffers of this water shortage problem. We people usually go insane when our comfort zones that is a.c., water coolers or fans suffer from glitch and we have to spend just few hours without them. But you know there are still people in this nation whose happiness doesn't lie in such luxurious materialistic things. Their happiness lies in just basic needs such as food, clothe and home.

I have been constantly reading the success story of startups nowadays. Be it the Bangalore Cleanliness startup or Indore's recent Med startup. Wow! Technically we have so much innovation that just one click and get the most desirable stuff ignoring all the vague.  But isn't it true that the more we are becoming technology driven, the more we are forgetting our values.  In India still only 38 percent people have access to internet. Many rural areas are still facing the issue of water shortage, power shortage, food etc. Here the point isn't to be sympathetic towards them. They better know how to prove their capabilities and strive for what they want.

The only point that is being exaggerated is we as future drivers should understand the value of our natural resources and should not take them for granted. We should be careful if any leakage occurs at our surroundings. We should consume only that much water that we require. I have learnt this value from my 4rth standard student.  One day she asked me for water. I served her full glass of water. She asked me to make it half. I asked her why? She replied ' I don't require full glass I just require half amount of it and we should not waste water. I gently smiled and thanked her for opening my eyes. Children may be small but give us big teachings in simplest ways. I f you see today not just Rajasthan even Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh are equally suffering the problem of water shortage.

Since its Holi, so reminder reminder!! On this occasion we will really prove to be sensitive and tolerant. But to overcome this issue Holi wouldn't be enough we every day need to follow few basics to eradicate this issue such as:
  •       Only consume that much of water which is required
  •     Use bucket instead of taking a shower
  •     Use rice water for washing utensils and mopping
  •     In case of any leakage repair it asap

If we all take an oath to follow such basic things we will certainly make this a better nation to reside in.

But the good thing is finally I am out of dilemma. I have found a wonderful way of celebrating Holi. How about celebrating this grand occasion with small kiddos? Because their smile heals every pain and so whole heartedly our AnantAman family invite you on this auspicious occasion of Holi to celebrate it with a social cause on 28th March 2k16.

This Holi, play safe, go eco-friendly & save water. Dry Holi is best Holi.

Happy Holi

ORGAN DONATION- THE GIFT OF A LIFETIME

Indore has now entered among the top Indian cities in organ donation. We are now ranked second (amongst cities) when a sum total is calculated for eye, skin and cadaver donations. We have now started making a green corridor and transporting the organ to other cities by air.

This news has captured everyone’s eyes last week, but there are still few myths related to this. Let’s understand the whole stuff…

What is organ donation?

Organ donation is the donation of biological tissue or an organ of the human body from a living or dead person to a living recipient in need of a transplantation. The donor of the organs plays a role of God in the life of organ transplanted person. One organ donor can save more than 8 lives in his life by donating his well function organs.

A reality check

More than 5 lakhs of the Indians are dying every year just because of the failure of their major functioning organs anytime.

·         200,000 people die of liver disease
·         50,000 people die from heart disease
·         150,000 people await a kidney transplant but only 5,000 get one
·         1,000,000 people suffer from corneal blindness and await transplant

Law for safe organ donation

To prevent the commercial dealing in human organs a Transplantation of Human Organs (THO) Act was passed in 1994. Aim of this act is to regulate the removal, storage and transplantation of human organs for therapeutic purposes only.

Who can donate?

·         A deceased donor, after brain death or cardiac death
·         A living donor, who can give a kidney, or a portion of the liver, lung, intestine or pancreas

Which organs can be donated?

Up to 25 different organs and tissues can be donated for transplantation.
Transplant able organs include :-

·         Heart
·         Kidneys
·         Liver
·         Lungs
·         Pancreas
·         Small intestines
Transplantable tissues include
·         Blood, blood vessels
·         Eyes
·         Skin
·         Bones
·         Bone marrow
·         Cartilage
·         Connective tissues
·         Heart valves

Maximum time span between recovering organs/ tissues and transplantation

Lung                    (4-6 hours)
Heart                   (4-6 hours)
Liver                    (12 hours)
Pancreas             (12 hours)
Kidney                 (12 hours)
Skin                     (6-12 hours)
Corneas               (14 days)

Reason for low organ donation rate

Most of the people do not have proper awareness about the organ donation, which organs can be donated, when they can donate, how to get registered for the organ donation, etc. Some people do not interested in the organ donation or do not show their independent desire for organ donation because of the family pressure or their own fear and myths.

How to donate

There are two ways to donate organs:
1.
By pledging for organ donation when a person is alive
2.   By consent of family after death
Indian Society of Organ Transplantation was initiated the Transplant Registry in India in 2005. There is a facility of online organ registry for the people all over India who are willing to donate organs on their own will. Organ registry ensures the proper organ donation as well as the fair use of donated organs in the future according to the priority of need and requirements of the organs to the recipients.  Please visit the following website for registration :-

1. Mohan Foundation: http://mohanfoundation.org/
3. Gift Your organ: http://giftyourorgan.org/

4. Gift a Life: http://giftalife.org//
