Free Dental Campaign

07 Days FREE DENTAL CAMPAIGN

Eating habits are a major problem nowadays. Lifestyles have changed, needs have altered. People are aware about the latest gadgets but hardly about health trends. Do you remember the last you had your health check up? Well not so shockingly half of the youngsters are not even aware of it. Awareness cannot be spread by setting only policies but it should comprise simpler and short term milestones.

Similar step was taken by our proud NGO member Dr. Nidhi Vyas and her team. She with the support of our Anant Aman Social Welfare Society arranged a dental camp dating from 25th Jan 2017 to 31st Jan 2017.It was held at Dental lounge, 1709 Dwarkapuri. A good population of around 500 appeared. It comprised patients of every age from child to aged people. The main aim of this camp was to spread dental awareness. The following points were highlights-

- To brush atleast twice a day to avoid cavity.
- To use a floss to clean mouth regularly.
- Intake of green vegetables and foods should be increased.
- Visit nearby dentist in every six months.
- Avoid sticky foods such as chocolates.

Each patient actively participated and discussed their dental issues. 50-75 children came for the check up and parents were asked for follow up visits. 07 aged patients were keenly observed who didn't had teeths. And were provided with dentures.

The camp ended up successfully as it left over with smile on the faces of patients and with a feeling of relief that they are alright. The positive feedback of patients foster our belief of continuing such camps that too at mega level.

Thanks.

HOMOSEXUALITY.......AN UNNATURAL CRIME..??

In 1900s, atleast 99% of the population would tell you that "Man will never fly".They did not end here, they even said "If God wanted man to fly, he would have given us wings". Nonetheless, we do fly despite whatever was said. This was the case then and somewhat similar is the case now. Humans are so consumed by the fact that whatever is practised till date is right and anything new which tends to defy these facts is mandatorily wrong. Same is the opinion they share when it comes to homosexuality. People have never failed to raise eyebrows and disagree with the very idea of homosexuality. Moreover, many term it as an unnatural offence. However, we often forget "Beliefs, no matter how sincerely held, do not alter the facts". Even if millions of people share those beliefs, it does not change the fact that homosexuality is not against the nature.

Sexuality is not something you choose, nor is it something that anyone should be made to feel ashamed of. The past is full of incidents where people have fought for homosexual rights. Gay(pride) parades are constant motivation for people to accept reality of homosexuality. In 2008, five cities in India organised gay parade. A major breakthrough occured recently, when Canada's PM Justin Trudeau danced along with people and became a part of pride parade in Toronto started on June 1, 2016 and continued for a week. This was the first time ever a political involvement was shown in gay parade. However, the pace is very slow and homosexuality is still considered a taboo in India. We Indians have always been cautious when it comes to expanding our horizons. We often tend to critisize the dark clouds for hiding the sun, although we fail to see the rain they bring as a relief. Similarly,we often critisize homosexual marriages as it will arise a generation that will be either "fatherless" or "motherless", regardless of the boon homosexual marriages bring to our society in the form of child adoption. Provided the fact that homosexual couples can not reproduce and will eventually go for child adoption to fulfill their child cravings. It will do nothing but ameliorate the life of the adopted child.

"To be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others".
One has the right to do anything untill it does not harm anybody, and it is a high time to stand up to this. Let us broaden our mindset and accept homosexuality on our individual level. Let us take action and be the instrument of change we desire.

ETHICAL DILEMMA – EQUALITY OR SECULARISM?

We have read it in books, several times and wondered what actually a dilemma is like or how to get out of such situation? According to books, an Ethical Dilemma is a situation where there has to be a decision made between couple of options which may be right and justified at their ends.

Not long ago High Court of Maharashtra had an appeal from ‘Bhumata Brigade’ seeking judicial approval over lifting of all gender barriers for access to the inner sanctum where there is idol of ‘Shani or Saturn Shrine’ at Shani Shingnapur temple in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The temple had a 400-year tradition of not allowing women to worship at the altar. On 26th Jan, 2016, a group 500 of protestors in buses was stopped by police near town of Supa, 70 Kms from temple.

Since temple tradition was justified on religious believes it somehow denied women an equal right of worshiping as men. That’s an Ethical Dilemma, where on one hand there stood Religious belief and on another stood Right to equality. Indian Constitution laid equal emphasis on Secularism, where religious belief of every individual is equally respected, and Equality, among all citizens of India. Opinions raised all across the country likely arguing that a tradition should not be broken as it would have calamitous effects or something bad would occur.  While others argued that it is a superstitious belief being followed for 400 year that now should be debunked. In a country where religious sentiments bind billions together can even lead them falling apart. Unrest situations and riots over religious causes have been frequently countered in India therefore a tough call was to be made by the judiciary at Maharashtra High Court.

On 1st April High Court held that it is the women’s fundamental right to go into places of worship and the government is duty bound to protect their right. Further temple trust welcomed Court’s decision and invited Bhumata Brigade to offer prayers at inner sanctum as it opened doors for women thereon. Many people are still of an opinion that, ‘Maharashtra is facing drought because Saturn Shrine is upset over debunking of tradition’, a mere superstition, maybe. Whatever the impacts may be, this decision certainly speaks eloquently of peaceful and progressive of Indian triumph.

On latest notes, Tripti Desai led Brigade is demanding equal access to women at Haji Ali dargah. Another challenging dilemma for authorities.
